Woodhaven Celebrates Their Direct Support Professionals During DSP Recognition Week

September 12 – 18 is DSP Recognition Week 2021

This is a special week at Woodhaven! We are celebrating our 214 Direct Support Professionals in honor of National DSP Recognition Week — a week dedicated to highlighting the direct support workforce that is the heart and soul of support for those with disabilities.

What is A Direct Support Professional?

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) is someone who works directly with people who have intellectual or developmental disabilities. DSPs aim to help individuals they serve become engaged in their community and gain skill sets for day-to-day independent living.

In the past, DSPs were mainly viewed as caregivers. However, over time the role has evolved and is no longer about doing things for people, but empowering them to do things for themselves.

Meet Woodhaven’s DSPs

We have over 200 DSPs working towards the Woodhaven mission. Without the dedication of our many long-term employees, Woodhaven would not be able to make as much of an impact for adults with developmental disabilities. Our DSPs truly love the work they do each day, and we could not be more thankful for them!

Woodhaven is always looking for compassionate Direct Support Professionals to add to our team! We are currently looking for DSPs both full time and part time. No matter your level of experience, we encourage anyone to apply who has a heart for the Woodhaven mission and a willingness to work collaboratively with our team.

  • DSP – On Call
  • DSP – Weekend Relief/ Weekend 16 Hour Shift
  • FT/PT Evening DSP M-F
