Summer 2024 Class Schedule

Therapeutic Recreation CLASSES ($350)

Pickleball (Monday) 11:30am-12:30pm

Pickleball is a paddle sport where tennis, badminton, and ping-pong come together to make a fun and exciting game for 2 or 4 players. Appropriate for players of all ages and skill levels. Increase your aerobic abilities, hand eye coordination, make new friends and have a great time playing this exciting game outdoors at a local park!

DISC GOLF (Monday) 12:30pm - 1:30pm

Learn to play the fun outdoor sport of disc golf! Disc golf involves throwing a special frisbee or flying disc from a tee into a chain linked basket in as few throws as you can. Already know how to play? Then test and improve your skills and have a great time outside playing this fast-growing sport! Let’s rattle those chains! (Class will be held at a local park.)

Become a Chess Master! (MONDAY) 2:30pm-3:30pm

You can do it! It’s never too late to learn how to play chess, the most popular game in the world! Learning the rules of chess is fun & easy. Rule your Kingdom, protect your Queen, increase your strategic skills and make new friends as you battle to conquer your opponent in this classic board game.  

Mindful Movement (MONDAY) 3:30pm-4:30pm

Experience connecting with yourself through breathing, movement, and meditation. Founded in the original philosophies of Yoga, this class will help you bring balance to your life: physically, emotionally, energetically, and spiritually. Come prepared with a yoga mat, water bottle, and an open mind as we explore the present moment together. When we give ourselves enough space, anything is possible. Let’s begin. 

Slow Down with Sound (MONDAY) 4:30pm-5:30pm

Unwind your body and mind with the calming sounds of shakers, tongue drum, and guitar. Wear comfortable clothes, and bring a blanket, pillow, or other items to help you settle into the present moment. Allow any sensations that arise and give yourself space knowing that during this time the only goal is rest. Let’s come together to rest up, and slow down. 

Drawing Art Styles 101: Characters (TUESDAY) 1pm - 2pm

Learn to draw Character(s). With a pencil and sketchbook, you can understand how to draw a person. Create a character of your own or from cartoons and/or anime!

Basketball All-Stars (TUESDAY) 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Discover the joy of passing, dribbling, and shooting while fostering camaraderie, and a sense of community. This engaging class not only hones basketball skills but also cultivates teamwork and social interaction. See you on the court, All-Star!

Pixel Art Heroes ONLINE (TUESDAY) 6pm-7pm

In this class we will be exploring the world of pixel art, including inspirations from the past and how it is still used to this day! We’ll be working on making pixel creations of our own as we take a retrospective look back. 

Self-Defense (Wednesday) 11:30am-12:30pm

Use your self-defense skills to give BOB, the punching dummy a good workout, while you get one too! Become proficient in blocking, kicking and striking. Increase your awareness and ability to defend yourself. A fun, fast action class.

Intro to Billiards (WEDNESDAY) 2pm - 3pm

Want to have fun while learning a new skill? Yes, of course you do! Learn Eight-Ball, Nine-Ball, and more, while improving your hand-eye coordination skills and making new friends in this relaxing yet energetic class!

Social Skills Classes ($350)

Developing & Strengthening Relationships in Adulthood (MONDAY) 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Now that you are an adult, do you ever struggle to make and keep friendships? You’re not alone in this group as we will share our experiences in the current school/life/workforce. We will learn how to manage adult experiences, learn new ways of managing conflict, and gain lasting relationships with our peers through in-person socialization. Maybe you will find someone with a common interest and become the best of pals in class!

Whimsy & Wellness (TUESDAY) 11:30am - 12:30pm

Did you know that fresh air can improve your health? Walking and talking with a friend can help you feel good in your mind and body? Being creative, as well as collaborating with others, can make you happy and help you solve problems? Join Whimsy and Wellness to learn ways to be well and enjoy life. In this class we will be creative, take walks, move our bodies, and learn how to relax. All while having fun together!

Feel the Music (TUESDAY) 2pm - 3pm

Enjoy the power of music as we listen to and share music with each other and use music to understand and express emotions. We will experience and discuss moods and themes conveyed through lyrics, sounds, and melody. And we will express ourselves through writing, movement, discussion and/or any way we are moved to express ourselves!

Exceptional Communication: Conversations to Customer Service (WEDNESDAY) 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Today, it’s more important than ever to have great social and communication skills for both personal and professional development. In this class, we will practice, practice, practice when it comes to conversing with other people, managing conflict, building rapport, and knowing how to best network to help influence a successful career and personal life.

Key to Successful Friendships ONLINE (THURSDAY) 1:30pm - 2:30pm

We all want to have good friends and also be a good friend. In this engaging and fun class, we will practice starting conversations, maintaining conversations, and other social skills necessary to build meaningful relationships. Let’s hang out together, have fun, and make friends!

Social OPPORTUNITY

Drop-In Social Lounge ONLINE (THURSDAY) 2:30pm - 3:30pm

Want to hang out with fellow EnCircle students? Have a question about a class? Want to share something cool you created? Want to chill and chat? Just drop in to the online social lounge for a few minutes or the whole hour and have some fun! Open to any current or former EnCircle student. Email Jamie for details.

Tech/Career/Misc ($300)

Driving Simulator (Tuesday)

HIGH SCHOOL 3:30PM-4:30PM | Adult 5:30pm-6:30pm

Would you like to learn and practice your driving skills in a safe environment before venturing out into traffic? This class will include going over the basics as well as working on the motor automatic stage of driving to gain skills, comfortability, and confidence in your driving ability. Using driving simulators, students will learn to practice for skill and confidence.

Intro to Podcasting (wednesday) 1pm-2pm

Get your chops down for fun with friends or become an investigating reporter uncovering an important story. Whatever your interests are, make your very own podcast in this fun and creative class!

From Idea to Reality: Mastering 3D Printing (WEDNESDAY) 3:30pm - 4:30pm

Together we will learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling using FreeCAD and Blender, gain proficiency in editing and preparing models using Creality Print, and engage in hands-on activities to bring our creations to life!

Lights, Canva, Action: Bring Your Ideas to Life through Video (WEDNESDAY) 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Get ready to learn the basics of video creation using Canva. We will learn about all the different tools Canva has to offer for creating fun and entertaining videos.

BandLab Beats: Discover the Magic of Music Creation ONLINE (THURSDAY) 3:30pm - 4:30pm

In this music creation class, we will have the opportunity to explore the art of creating music using BandLab. We will gain hands-on experience in utilizing BandLab’s editing tools to create our own music!

Animate Your Imagination: Dive into Stop Motion ONLINE (THURSDAY) 4:30pm - 5:30pm

Join this class and learn what a stop motion video is, and how to make them using Cloud Stop Motion. This will be an online class where you are encouraged to use your own belongings to bring your imagination to life!

Personal Financial Planning ONLINE (THURSDAY) 5:30pm - 6:30pm

No matter where you are in your financial or life journey, it’s important to check-in with yourself to make sure you are creating and meeting your financial goals! Got your first job and want to learn how to budget? Make an income, but want to learn more about how others save and spend their money? We will work together to find out the best financial plan for everyone, all while practicing real-life scenarios where you will need to communicate with other people in order to meet your financial goals to be successful for your future! 

Enrollment Information

To set up an enrollment meeting, please reach out to Jamie at jbolyard@woodhaventeam.org.

Encircle Technology classes at Woodhaven will begin January 29th, 2024. Initial Interview is required for new students.

New students can schedule a video or phone meeting to go over application materials. If the student is accepted, another meeting will be scheduled to decide on which classes to enroll.

Students must be 12 years of age or older, attend class weekly, and maintain respectful behavior during class.

NO PERSON SHALL BE DENIED ADMISSION BECAUSE OF RACE, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, GENDER, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, OR VETERAN STATUS.

Several funding options are available for students, including ​​Boone County Children’s Services Fund.
