12 Ways to Give to Woodhaven

During the holiday season, many folks look for a way to give back. There are a number of ways you can support Woodhaven this holiday season. Read on for our list of ways to give back to Woodhaven this December!

Donate to Our Year-End Giving Campaign

You can help Woodhaven prepare for next year with a donation this year. Your contribution ensures we can continue to grow our staff and our programs to better serve the individuals at Woodhaven. You can give to our year-end campaign by making a donation on our website or mailing a check to:

Woodhaven
1405 Hathman Pl.
Columbia, MO, 65201

Donate to Our CoMoGives Campaign

CoMoGives is an annual fundraiser that supports over 100 area nonprofits. Donors are able to make a single donation to one or more organizations from November 30 through December 31. Woodhaven has a goal to raise $7,000 through CoMoGIves this year. Learn more about it on our CoMoGives page.

Donate a Car

Whether your vehicle is in great condition or barely hanging on, it will find new purpose helping the men and women served by Woodhaven! A car donation would provide new opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities and empower them to reach for their dreams. Your vehicle donation may also be eligible for a tax deduction. Learn more about the requirements and fill out the interest form on our car donation page.

Donate to the Paper & Supply Drive

Under normal circumstances, purchasing the necessary supplies for each of our homes can be a challenge, but during this time — when costs have skyrocketed, supplies are hard to find, and many of those we support are out of work — we need your help more than ever. Consider donating paper goods (paper towels, toilet paper, etc), cleaning supplies, toiletries, or PPE. See the full list of supplies on our Paper & Supply Drive page. Supplies can be mailed to:

Woodhaven
℅ Paper Drive

Columbia, MO, 65201

Donate to Gift Card Drive

Year round, we collect $5 Walmart gift cards for our individuals’ birthdays. However, any gift cards donated from November 1 through December 10 will go towards our Christmas present for each individual. Last year, we were able to collect $50 in gift cards for each person at Woodhaven. Please help us by mailing us a gift card, mailing in a check or making an online donation towards this campaign.

Buy A Brick For Our Memorial Garden

Celebrate your commitment to people with developmental disabilities and become a permanent part of our future by purchasing a commemorative brick to support Woodhaven’s Building on Our Strengths Capital Campaign.

Your brick will pave the walkway through the Remembrance Garden on our administrative property and celebrate your contribution to the men and women of Woodhaven. You can purchase a brick for $100 or $200, depending on the size and engraving. Contact info@woodhaventeam.org or call our development department at (573) 876-7327 to get your brick order started!

Donate Bar Codes via Best Choice Program

If you purchase any Best Choice products (generic in most Midwest grocery stores), then you likely have barcodes and box tops from the Best Choice program! Woodhaven receives $30 for every 1,000 bar codes we send to Best Choice. We prefer to receive them in zip-lock bags with the total number of box codes labeled. Learn more about how to send us your Best Choice barcodes

Join Van Taylor Society

Advocate for Disability Rights

Check out our blog about ways to advocate for disability rights. The best way to be an advocate? Listen to those in the neurodiverse and disabled community! But you can also:

  • Advocate by calling your legislator when legislation about disability rights is being debated.
  • Start a conversation at your workplace about accomodations for those that are neurodiverse or disabled — and make sure there aren’t barriers to entry!

Find more resources and learn more in our blog about advocating for disability rights.
