Direct Support Professional (DSP)

The Direct Support Professional is an entry level direct support position. DSP – Weekend Relief

The Direct Support Professional Weekend Relief is an entry level direct support position. The Direct Support Professional Weekend Relief will provide necessary supports for individuals receiving services in all aspects of their life. Employees working a weekend relief position will earn incentive compensation for working a 16 hour shift with eight hours unpaid sleep time in a 24 hour period. Employees must sleep in a designated area on the premises. This incentive will be lost if employee transfers to another position. If it is necessary for employee to be awake during sleep hours, they will be paid at their regular rate or at overtime rate if it applies. Should the employee feel it necessary to be awake during normal sleep time for more than one hour, he/she must contact the Home Coordinator for further instructions. If after contacting the Home Coordinator, the employee cannot get five hours of sleep in the eight hours, he/she will be paid for the full eight hours at their regular rate of pay. High school diploma or equivalent is required and previous experience working with persons with developmental disabilities is preferred.

DSP – Live-In

The Direct Support Professional is an entry level direct support position. The Direct Support Professional will provide necessary supports for individuals receiving services in all aspects of their life. High school diploma or equivalent is required and previous experience working with persons with developmental disabilities is preferred. The Direct Support Professional Live-In staff will be required to work scheduled shifts without interruption or distraction. The employee will be responsible for providing appropriate supervision of any children residing in the home during any portion of the day when the employee is on-duty.

DSP – On-Call

The Direct Support Professional is an entry level direct support position.  On-call employees must meet the following expectations to maintain their job status:
Work a minimum of 40 hours per month. Exceptions must be approved by the employee’s Program Manager. Complete all annual required in-services by the employee’s anniversary date. Keep supervisor and Human Resource Office informed of changes in employee’s telephone number and address. Other expectations are identified in the Performance Plan of the employee. It is the employee’s responsibility to contact their Program Manager on a weekly basis to discuss their availability to pick up hours. Employees who fail to meet the above guidelines may be subject to their employment being discontinued.

Team Support Specialist

A person in this position will provide coverage for hours open due to vacation, illness, vacancies, etc. The position involves 40 flex hours per week. The employee will be guaranteed 40 hours per week and one weekend off per month. This is a highly responsible and challenging position requiring the ability to work effectively with co-workers and a wide variety of individuals. The Team Support Specialist will be expected to be a positive role model for other direct support personnel. The person occupying this position will also be asked to train new employees working in a direct support capacity.

An employee in this classification is expected to learn the goals, routines and personal choices of up to 30 individuals for whom they may be scheduled to support. The position requires the ability to receive instruction from up to eight Home Coordinators depending upon where the relief is needed. An employee occupying this position must be adaptable, energetic, dependable and able to follow instructions regarding the needs and desires of the various individuals and perform effectively consistent with Woodhaven’s procedures, guidelines, directives and individual’s personal preference. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or ability to learn and adopt at an accelerated rate.
